Weekly Weigh-In...Week 1

Wow! Does it feel good to be past the holidays, or what? Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed every minute of the food, family, and friends, and having vacation time to spend with our little girls was wonderful. But, I love getting back to routine…back to a little structure, you know?

Admittedly, the re-entry into post-holiday life has been a little difficult (as evidenced in my post earlier this week), but I am starting to feel like things are heading back toward that comfortable place called "Normal."

I got the idea that I wanted to start blogging in March of last year, just as I was turning 35. At the same time, I decided that I wanted to lose weight once and for all. So, I set up a profile for my blog and joined Weight Watchers. By May, my blog still sat idle and my weight loss efforts were floundering. Then, out of nowhere, my husband Tony began his own weight loss blog. He has been successful at both the blogging and the weight loss...or "healthy living journey," as he would all it.

His dedication to losing weight inspired me to kick my own efforts into high-gear. Then, after a few months, he asked me to contribute to his blog with a weekly weigh-in. After "weighing in" on his blog since September 2007, I decided it was time to finally kick my idle blog into gear, too.

My thoughts these days revolve around work, my kids, my husband, getting into shape, and how to keep all those things in balance. So, I assume, that's what this blog will focus on, as well.

I hit a big weight loss milestone this week, finally clearing the 40-pound mark. Hurray! I attribute it to really watching my food intake, drinking LOTS of water, and hitting the treadmill and stair master.

I also went to a yoga class this week, which I really loved. I have to thank our neighbor (and friend) Ali for encouraging me to go. It’s difficult for me to skip out on bedtime to go to the gym, but I think this will really be worth it. Yoga seems to be a perfect fit for a high-strung girl like me.
