Well, I had a big loss this week, which was nice. Unfortunately, I'll need one at least as big next week in order to stay on track. Exercise has been the huge hurdle for me.
Saying that I am over-committed would be putting it lightly. I have two very energetic little girls. I have a very demanding job. I have additional (very draining) commitments within my community at work. I have house that I am desperately trying to keep clean. Oh, and I also have an entire basement that has been torn up due to some serious water leaking earlier in the spring. By the time I get home from work (kids in tow), I am exhausted and overwhelmed. On a good night, my husband comes home and we all have dinner at the table (most of the time lately, one of us is gone, or the girls have an activity, or we need to grocery shop and so we eat dinner the Target Cafe). Then, it is bath time and pajama time and movie time and potty time and story time and song time and finally lights out for the girls. Then, my husband and I do our best to clean up, do a little laundry, and make sure the girls have everything they need for the next big day at Adventure Club.
At 9:00 or so, I can finally begin to relax before bed. Except lately, I've also been spending time in the evening trying to get caught up on my work. So, at 10:00 or 10:30, we watch about 40 minutes of TV (thanks to Torchwood on Netflix) and then get to bed at about 11:30. If I am going to get to the gym in the morning and be around to help get the girls and my husband out the door at 8:00, I have to get up at 5:30 (at the latest) in order to make it happen...and that only works for days on which I don't have an early morning meeting that requires me to be out the door by 7:30 (sometimes earlier).
I am sure that there are other people who do this every day, all the time. I am sure that there are people who would say, "Well, if getting to the gym is important to you, you'll find a way to make it work. You just need to make a commitment." Right now, I'd like to make the commitment...it's just that my schedule is making things a little more difficult than I think is necessary.
That being said...the triathlon is this weekend. I haven't run in over a week. My only hope is that I can finish the race in about 35 minutes. I also hope that once my current barrage of work is completed and once we start getting the basement back in place everything will start to come together again. Fingers crossed.
I am going to my best next week with my eating and try to get at least a couple of gym visits in. If I can get another of weeks of losses that are over a pound, I will be in good shape. Race update on Sunday night!
Week 3 weigh-in: 212.2
Week 4 weigh-in: 210.2
Weight loss: 2 pounds
37.4 pounds and 36 weeks left to go!
